About Stockholm Sweden Travel Guide

Although born in the south of the Netherlands, about 1,000 kilometers from the Swedish border, I have always been interested in this Scandinavian country.

As a school kid I was fascinated by pictures I saw of endless Swedish forests and wild rivers carrying tree-trunks to the Baltic Sea. Living in one of the most densely populated countries in the world, all these trees were something special.

Luckily Pippi Longstocking TV series – the first TV shows that were able to scare me (now I'm an Alfred Hitchcock fan) – made me aware there were people in this country too!

I first went to Stockholm in 1990 when the editor of the magazine I worked for asked me to make a report about a conference held in the nearby town of Sigtuna. The Swedish capital made a lasting impression on me. I decided to go back and many trips to Sweden followed, and each trip always included a few days Stockholm.

In 2000 I started my first web site about my favorite holiday destination, called Zweden? Zweden! which quickly became one of the most popular Dutch sites on this subject.

Unfortunately, lack of time forced me to close it down. But the North kept calling, and in 2004 Stockholm Sweden Travel Guide was born.
