This city is not just the capital of Sweden. It is the world's most beautiful capital as well.

This guide tells you all about it. Or better: I will tell you about it. I am Marc. I don't live in Sweden, but visited the Swedish capital many times and have completely fallen in love with this beauty.

The first time I saw this great city I was there to attend a conference. It was June and I was surprised by the atmosphere, the long nights and the sunny weather. No, Sweden is NOT a dark and cold place. At least not in summer.

I didn’t have much time to spend in the city or in its beautiful archipelago, or Stockholms skärgård as they say in Swedish. But I immediately knew I had to go back.

I came back AND I keep coming back. Although I live a thousand miles away.

Why?

Here are a few reasons:

Water is everywhere in this city.

The capital is built on fourteen islands. You are never far from lake Mälaren or the Baltic Sea. You will meet a dazzling number of museums and parks. Cultural heritage and medieval streets meet modern architecture, trends and hipness.

It’s the only capital in the world with a protected national park within its borders.

Stockholm is stunningly clean, astoundingly safe and not even half as expensive as most people think. It’s the perfect place for a citytrip or a longer vacation.

I could go on and on.

Even if your destination is somewhere else in this vast country, you should spend at least a full day in the capital – and make it two or three days if you can.
