Rica City Hotel Kungsgatan – The Review
The Rica City Hotel Kungsgatan in Stockholm is the number one choice for many travelers who want to stay close to shops, sights and attractions. The hotel is located on the top five floors of the PUB department store. This means that the building borders on one side Drottninggatan, the main shopping street in Stockholm, and on the other side, Hötorget, an attractive square with the city concert hall, a cinema complex and a daily outdoor market. You’re in the middle of everything here. Not only shops, but also night clubs and (fast food) restaurants are right at the other side of the street. The bus stop of the airport coach is a little more than five minutes away. Walk 10-15 minutes to the south and you’re in Gamla Stan. The room I stayed in was tastefully decorated and included a mini-bar. There was a welcoming message on my TV when I arrived. Only the drainage of water was a little noisy: you could hear when your neighbor took a shower.
There are two internet computers close to the reception – you can use them free of charge - and you can meet other guests in a cozy lounge. To make the elevator work, you have to insert the card that also functions as your door key. This will keep thieves and unwanted guests away. Want to save money? Here's a tip: Some of the cheaper rooms have no windows, but no one complains about that or even notices since one wall in such a room is covered with curtains. The Norwegian Rica chain has a few more hotels in Stockholm and many others in Scandinavia, but this one is my favorite.
