The M/S Rygerfjord Botel Stockholm - Hotel and Hostel Review
The M/S Rygerfjord Botel Stockholm combines a hotel and a hostel on a boat, located at Söder Mälarstrand, Södermalm.
From the deck (or your cabin) you have excellent views on Kungsholmen (with the city hall), Riddarholmen and Gamla Stan. You can also climb the hilltop – just across the street – and enjoy an even better view. A truly romantic place! It’s a boat with a dramatic history. The Rygerfjord was built in Norway and made its maiden voyage in 1950. The vessel changed ownership several times. On 27 july 1989 the boat hit a reef when sailing from Bergen to the North Cape, with 70 passengers on board. The passengers were rescued ashore but the Captain died of a heart attack. In 1995 the M/S Rygerfjord arrived in Stockholm and was turned into a hotel and hostel. The prices are pretty low, especially if you prefer the hostel accommodation, but if you are considering one of the hotel rooms, you should realize that this is a boat… which means, space is limited. The double room I had was just big enough for the bed, and the tiny bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen. The porthole could not be opened. However, if this is not a problem to you, you will have a good time at the Rygerfjord Botel Stockholm. Please note that breakfast is not included in the price! You have to order it separately… which you probably will since there’s no breakfast restaurant around the corner.
