The Right Stockholm City Map

What if you don't know where you are?

Don't worry. The city centre is not too big, many streets and major roads are straight, and there are enough landmarks that will tell you where you are.

Bus stops and subway stations also indicate your location. And if this is not enough, then there are always a few friendly Swedes to help you.

Of course it's also possible to buy a printed Stockholm karta – as the Swedes call it.

Buy a good travel guide or a city guide. You will find a map in it. This is sufficient if you don’t plan to leave the city centre.

Tourist offices in Sweden also have free maps of good quality. Get one if you visit Sweden House, the city's main tourist office located at Hamngatan.

If you are more ambitious and want to explore Stockholm and wider region (the archipelago!), a separate Stockholm city map is recommended.

I have often used the Falkplan Stockholm map. It covers most of the region, is very detailed and has a handy format. Thanks to the pocket book size you won’t have problems folding.
