Get Around Efficiently With
The Right Stockholm City Map
Do you need a Stockholm city map when visiting the Swedish capital? Well, you won’t get lost there, but for sure it's handy. Below is a useful interactive map which has several benefits. Bur first have a look...
It's not just one Stockhom city map, but several maps in one really. You can zoom in and out, using the + and the -, and the more you zoom in, the more street names will appear.
But you can also see how Stockholm looks from above in reality. Just click the Satellite button at the top right. Amazing, isn't it?
There's also a Hybrid button which will show you a mix of a traditional map with a satellite view.
You found what you were looking for? Use the print function of your browser and you can take this map with you.
What if you don't know where you are?
Don't worry. The city centre is not too big, many streets and major roads are straight, and there are enough landmarks that will tell you where you are.
Bus stops and subway stations also indicate your location. And if this is not enough, then there are always a few friendly Swedes to help you.
Of course it's also possible to buy a printed Stockholm karta – as the Swedes call it.
Buy a good travel guide or a city guide.
You will find a map in it. This is sufficient if you don’t plan to leave the city centre.
Tourist offices in Sweden also have free maps
of good quality. Get one if you visit Sweden House, the city's main tourist office located at Hamngatan.
If you are more ambitious and want to explore Stockholm and wider region (the archipelago!), a separate Stockholm city map is recommended.
I have often used the Falkplan Stockholm map. It covers most of the region, is very detailed and has a handy format. Thanks to the pocket book size you won’t have problems folding.
You can buy this Stockholm city map in major bookstores in Sweden, and also in some bookstores abroad.
A unique buy is this
Stockholm city map T-shirt
with a print of central Stockholm showing the locations of major sights.
It is only available from my personal fan shop. Sure, it's not as detailed as all the other maps, but it's a nice gadget for all fans!
